Siderophore Products

Siderophore Assay: Emergbio provide a rapid and easy to use assay for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of siderophores. Qualitative assay requires simple application of 100ul sample to 100ul of reagent and, depending on the concentration of siderophore present, colour change can be detected within minutes. For a quantitative assessment, samples can be compared to a reference material provided in the kit. A result can be obtained in less than 20 minutes. This test has application in:


  • Siderophore detection: It provides a quick and sensitive test for the detection of iron binding peptides, i.e. Siderophores or synthetic analogues, for therapeutic application

  • Iron Chelation: Assessment of chelation ability of novel synthetic chelation molecules for therapeutic application in iron overload.

  • Antimicrobial Discovery: It provides an easy method to screen for compounds which can act as potential inhibitors of iron uptake via inhibition of siderophore generation.

SideroTec Kit:

The SideroTec assay is a colorimetric test for use in the detection of siderophores secreted by bacteria or fungi, or for the assessment of synthetic iron chelators. The test can be used with liquid culture either directly or following filtration to remove microorganism. The test may also be used with other aqueous based liquids.
